Beginner guide

Your first hour on this server, from the character screen to your first boss.

Your first character

Pick a class you enjoy playing, not the one a chart says is strongest. Every class clears every map on this server; the differences are in how it feels.

Your empire is chosen per account and applies to all your characters. It decides your starting village and your starting map, nothing about your strength.

  • Warrior: hits hard up close, the easiest start.
  • Ninja: fast daggers or a bow, fragile but quick.
  • Sura: a sword with magic behind it, strong against many enemies at once.
  • Shaman: heals and buffs, the best friend a group can have.

The village

You start in your empire's village. Speak to the Old Lady and the Guard first; the early quests give you a weapon, potions and your first levels for almost no effort.

Movement speed is raised on this server, so walking between NPCs is quick. The map (M) shows every NPC; the wiki's map page shows them too, with the bosses and Metin areas around them.

  • Blacksmith: upgrades your gear from +0 upward.
  • Weapon and Armour shops: the first pieces are cheap and worth it.
  • Storekeeper: your storeroom, shared by all characters on the account.
  • Stable Boy: horses come early here and need no medal timers.

Fighting and levelling

Click a monster to attack it; the first skills open at level 5 and every skill has its own page in this wiki with what it does at each level.

The hunting page tells you which maps and monsters fit your level. Stay near your level: too low gives no experience, too high just kills you.

Metin Stones are the fastest way to level and the best early loot. They stand in fixed areas on each map; the Bosses & Metins section shows roughly where.

  • Potions on the quick slots: red for health, blue for mana.
  • Pick up everything at first; the loot filter in the inventory hides the junk later.
  • Set your skills before you spend books: the level names (M1, G1, P) are on every skill page.

Gear and upgrades

Every item page shows its real attack or defence values as the game computes them, the upgrade table with the materials each plus needs, and where the item drops or who sells it.

Bonuses are what separate two items of the same name. The Bonuses page lists what each slot can roll; the 6th and 7th bonus come from Bewitch and Bless Items.

Upgrade chances are never shown here, on purpose. Take a Blessing Scroll to the blacksmith when you cannot afford to lose the item.

What this server does differently

The Mechanics page has the whole list; these are the ones you meet in the first hour.

  • Bounty Board: twelve kinds of jobs that pay in yang and items, a good routine between levels.
  • Guardian Chests and Hidden Places: extra loot on the ordinary maps for those who look.
  • High Risk: an optional fight mode with bigger drops and bigger losses. Read its page before you switch it on.
  • Metin drops are tuned per level band; the Mechanics page lists what each band can give.
  • Vote for the server on the website for a buff that helps early levels.

Your first boss

Around level 30 the first bosses are within reach. Every boss page shows its level, element, HP, the exact spot it stands on the map and what it can drop.

Bring a friend or two; the Shaman's buffs make an early boss a short fight. Star the boss page and it stays on your wiki start page until you have killed it.

Using this wiki

Press the W button in your inventory to open the wiki in the game, already signed in. The same pages are on the website under /wiki.

Search finds items, bosses, maps, quests and skills as you type. The star on a page keeps it in your favorites; the report button at the bottom of every page sends a mistake to the team.
